Student Credit Cards

It is often said that college kids are endangered by the usage of student credit cards. Perhaps for some this is the case. I imagine there would be less consumers with credit problems if they took the time to become properly educated about credit, credit cards and how it can be utilized as a powerful toll if used responsibly. College kids aren’t kids, they are intelligent young adults that were selected to attend higher learning education establishments - college.

One can pretend students will not need a credit card in case of emergencies, or to help balance outgoing monies, or even to use as a tool in managing finances (not to mention using it to learn to budget and manage money.) If properly educated in a casual yet insightful way, perhaps these young adults will listen and learn. Learn that it takes discipline to NOT pull out the old credit card at the movies to treat everyone. Credit is not free money. It is actually a double edged word - credit is.

On one side there is the risk of certain personality types to potentially misuse their college student credit card. On the other side there are the forward looking work force of tomorrow, who got to college via education. It is through credit educational information and knowledge college students will use credit cards properly. Student cards are not for everyone.
